🕵️ OPSEC - Operational Security
Complete guide to protecting your identity on darknet
What is OPSEC?
OPSEC (Operational Security) = The process of protecting information that could be used against you.
OPSEC Pyramid
1. Operating System
| Level | OS | Security |
|---|---|---|
| 🥇 Best | Tails OS | Amnesic, leaves no traces |
| 🥈 Excellent | Whonix | Isolated, persistent storage |
| 🥉 OK | Linux + Tor | Good with proper configuration |
| ⚠️ Risky | Windows/Mac + Tor | Leaks metadata, telemetry |
2. Network
Basic rules:
- ✓ ALWAYS use Tor for darknet activities
- ✓ Enable "Safest" security level in Tor Browser
- ✓ Keep Tor Browser updated
- ❌ NEVER use your regular broadband for registration
- ❌ NEVER change Tor Browser window size
Advanced:
- Consider Tor bridges in restrictive countries
- Use public WiFi (with caution) for extra anonymity
3. Encryption
PGP
Encrypt ALL messages with delivery address
Monero
Anonymous transactions - NEVER Bitcoin
Disk
Encrypt sensitive files with VeraCrypt
4. Behavior (Most Important!)
❌ NEVER do:
- Reuse usernames from other sites
- Tell ANYONE you use darknet
- Discuss orders via regular text/SMS
- Use your real email address
- Log in from work/school/library
- Order to your real address
- Make purchases with clear pattern (same day, same time)
✓ ALWAYS do:
- Create unique, random usernames
- Wait random time before receiving package
- Destroy packaging material securely
- Vary your habits (time, method)
- Keep darknet activities strictly separate from everyday life
Identity Separation
Create complete separation between your "darknet identity" and real identity:
| Darknet | Real life | |
|---|---|---|
| Username | CryptoAnon847 | erik_svensson |
| Writing style | Different style | Normal style |
| Devices | Dedicated computer | Everyday device |
| Network | Tor | Regular internet |
Common mistakes that led to arrests
- 🚨 Used same username on clearnet and darknet
- 🚨 Told friends/partner about activities
- 🚨 Used Bitcoin instead of Monero
- 🚨 Ordered too often to same address
- 🚨 Forgot to enable Tor/VPN once
- 🚨 Logged in from regular browser "just once"
